What are PDO Threads?

They are tiny Sutures 'Threads' inserted under the skin. The body will form new collagen around the thread, responding to it the same way it does an injury by repairing it with the renewed collagen. The Threads will then fully dissolve over 3/4 months time which will leave your collagen clustered together (how it formed around the thread) to continue to tighten that skin even once the thread is dissolved! Once dissolved, all that's left behind is the results of the collagen production, smoother, brighter, tightened skin.

 

How are Threads performed?

It is advised to apply a numbing cream to the areas you are having treated 30mins prior to your appointment, i advise 'TKTX' - Yellow. Once you have arrived we will 'top up' your numbing whilst we go through everything. In some cases we are able to apply an injectable numbing agent to areas that may be more sensitive due to skin elasticity if we are using COGS for a lifting effect.

The treatment time itself can vary depending on how many areas we are treating. During treatment (again depending on the desired and realistic outcome) we will use a variety of threads (to boost the collagen) and COGS which give the lifting effect. If cogs are used you should expect to feel these slightly more than you would the threads under the skin throughout the healing process, this is completely normal. When performing COG treatment all you will feel is slight pressure from my hand movement.

 

After Treatment:

You may start to feel a tightening effect take place during or soon after treatment, this is completely normal. You may also experience what feels like little faint electrical shocks in the treatment areas, again this is completely normal during the healing process. This is simply the new collagen forming around the Threads.

 

Swelling and bruising is also a normal side effect (not everyone will swell and bruise the same) however it is advised to not book this treatment if you have an event in the upcoming 2 weeks.

 

Make-up can be applied after 48hours If needed. DO NOT apply any before this.

 

Even though you will notice a mild difference on the treatment bed, please note swelling will be in effect and you will need to wait 12 weeks for full and final results.

 

Results can last anything from 8-12months (individual dependent)
